SYSTEMS DESIGNER AND PROGRAMMER                                                 Chromalloy
September 1993 - March 29th 1998
Contracted from April 5th 1998 - May 29th 1998

I worked with FoxPro and Delphi on a Novell network, and Windows 95. Overhauled, enhanced and debugged many systems dealing with barcodes, keeping track of aircraft parts through the various stages of repair, employee performance, operational analysis, many report and color graph programs and taking responsibility to see that the network and all systems keep operating. I worked with employees, supervisors and engineers to design and program new systems for most aspects of the company operation. Created a Delphi system to query AS/400 data in California and combine the results with FoxPro data in Phoenix. In a company with over 250 people I had sole responsibility for the database programming. I have made the systems more sophisticated and reliable, usage increased more than ten times and become crucial to the functioning of all departments. Productivity and efficiency have increased dramatically as a result.  I trained the programmer who replaced me to enable a smooth transition for the company when I left.

CONTRACTED PROGRAMMER                                                   Virginia Power Co.
October 1992 - August 1993.

Original four month contract was extended several times. Converted a large system from FoxBASE to FoxPro to make use of compound indexes. Made substantial enhancements to the system which tracks oil, coal movements, fuel efficiency, intricate calculations, monthly station manager's reports etc. Documented a large part of the system. Coded half of an extensive Automated Station Reporting System to be used in 4 power stations. The program was written in Clipper 5.2 using advanced features, user defined commands and an extensive in-house function library.

PROGRAMMER                                               Taleigh Corporation, Boca Raton, Florida
May 1992 - September1992

Five months' programming in FoxPro in a Novell network environment. Extensive use of SQL's, windows, popups, merging letters with database fields, data conversion, creating a variety of applications, trouble shooting and helping other programmers debug their programs.  Solved a problem that the FoxPro support people said could not be done, wrote the solution in an article and had it published in the Data Based Advisor.

FREELANCE PROGRAMMER
July 1987 - May 1992

- South Florida Marine: Created a complete system in FoxPro to handle all aspects of a boat repossession and sales business: 14 databases, multiple cross-referencing, invoicing, letter templates and 5 levels of security.

- LCS Direct Mail Advertising: Made programs to create a database and print mailing labels from ASCII text files in three different formats.

- American Investors Alliance: Created a comprehensive system in Clipper 5.01 to analyze the mutual fund market, including complex statistical analyses, three dimensional color bar graphs, advanced applications with Tbrowse, manipulating Get system instance variables and linking with several third party libraries. 10,000 subscribers are now using this system.  Used a third party library suggested by the client to enable the user to tab across columns of figures as well as arrow up and down. The procedure was far too slow (almost a full second to respond to the tab key). So I wrote a short procedure in Clipper that accomplished the same thing but with instantaneous response, and dispensed with the third party product. I wrote this up with a code snippet to demonstrate the procedure and got it published in the Data Based Advisor.

- Attorney Charles Lamm: Created a program to print out immigration forms which allows the user to input the appropriate information for each form, and compresses the print where necessary to fit the line.

- Sunrise Chamber of Commerce: Created batch files and set up cable connections to make their computer interface with an electronic typewriter. Installed a shareware word processor and provided staff instruction.

- Vertical Market: Made a simple database program for hearing aid sales, to keep track of customer information and visits, and to print graphs of hearing loss versus decibels.

- Vertical Market: An aircraft parts brokering system which involved creating 243 procedure files, 17 databases, 52 indexes - about 150 pages of program code in Clipper on a Novell network. I also found the best wholesale deal available in South Florida, for my client's computer purchase.

- Ultimate Singles of America: Created a complete system including the computer matching program, membership records, billing, payments and reports.

- Oak Tree Country Club: Wrote a complete system in Clipper in 1987 to cover all aspects of their operation. Supported and enhanced the system until August 1992.

OTHER SKILLS:  Almost Fluent in French. Could become conversational in Spanish or German in a short time if necessary. Public Speaking. Can address any audience comfortably and effectively.
